Makeovers

In the previous post I talked about wanting to makeover some of the pages. I spent some time working on that this afternoon.

I really wanted to redo the pics/frames, but I didn't feel like starting fresh with the pictures. The pages is busy, but hopefully this is its last draft.

I am very pleased with this page! So much better than the first. Whew!

True Style

A couple of weeks ago I talked about staying true to your style. I saw a great example of WHY that's so important today when I was looking through some of the 2008 pages I created. I have pages I haven't printed that have pics from July of '08...this is unusual for me. Ha! Anyway, when I was looking through the digital pages to see what needed to be printed, finished, etc., I came across some pages that I'm not too crazy about.

I remember right around Christmas-time I was doing a lot of digi, but I remember rushing through it, like I thought I *had* to get it done. I guess I was on some mission to finish 2008. It's really obvious to me that I was in some kind of rush and not really making the most of it. I was in "performance" mode and not really enjoying it. I think it's so weird how I can take something that's supposed to be enjoyable (a hobby) and turn it into slave-driving work. Oops!

This is a page I created around that time, but I never finished it, until today. I like this page!

This was a page I created during that time that I also really like. There's texture, layers, and the pictures are a main focus of the page. I realize that's my style. I like lots of layers, texture, vibrance, etc.

This page lacks vibrance, texture, or any fun. Hahaha! I know...I'm getting down on myself, but I wanted to show a page that lacks my love and enthusiasm for scrapbooking. I don't think I'll be able to send this one off to be printed until it looks like I was having fun creating it. I have pages that I don't particularily care for, but I am leaving them alone. ha!

This page...honestly...looks like was thrown up on by the brush pallette. Hah! It needs a makeover.

So be true to your style. Don't rush. This should be fun!

Cousins

I've really been on a hybrid kick the last few days. It's been a lot of fun! But...there are some things about it that are bothering me a bit. I noticed that the colors are different from the original design and what's printed. I think I'll go back and look at what I have created on Photoshop in the past and what I had printed professionally and see if there are differences there...I don't think there are. It's hard to tell on this blog, but when I look at the completed project and compare it to what I created in Photoshop, there's a big difference with some of the colors.

The original Photoshop design. This was inspired by Rhonna Farrer. I really like her bright and fun designs.

Despite the color differences, I am having a lot of fun with hybrid...a little too much fun! Ha!

Katie

This was the second hybrid page I created yesterday of my sister Katie.

This part was created in Photoshop. I saw some ideas on Rhonna Farrer's blog that I really liked. One idea was the damask pattern blending behind Katie. Again, there are some differences between the Photoshop and the completed project because of the printer and taking pictures.

This is the completed page. I love the butterflies! When I was creating the first part of the page in Photoshop I imagined the butterflies and I couldn't wait to get to that part. I had so much fun making this page! At first I had this page created without the word 'sweet'. My eyes told me that I needed to fill that spot. So I went back to my Photoshop design, played around with fonts until I found this one and then I printed it on some transparent paper.

Sunday pages

I stayed home from church this morning to rest my back. Looks like I did some "resting". Haha!

I like how the colors came together on this page. I used to not like scrapbooking scenery pictures, but I think I almost prefer them now (well, maybe not always).

I started this page earlier this week, but I wasn't too excited about it. I'm still not that excited about it, but it's time to finish and move on.

Friday Hybrid

Here are those two hybrid pages as promised.

I really enjoyed making these pages! I made the bottom page first, creating the 8-1/2 x 11 spread in Photoshop. It was like I could see the idea in my mind and then created it. I like when that happens. The "goodbye" letters (Doodlebug) fit the color of the digital frame perfectly. I wanted to use some of my sticker letters, but I didn't know where to put the word at first. I stuck the stickers to a clear sheet and placed it around the layout to see where I would like it best. Then I pulled the stickers off the clear sheet right onto the layout. It was fun to test them out like that. I like how the word is hidden, but still very much part of the focal point of the page. These are probably two of my favorite pages that I've made recently.

Hybrid + Cake + Ribbon

The first two pictures are part of some hybrid (digi + traditional) pages I created tonight. Tomorrow I will take pictures of the completed pages. I had SOOOOO much fun creating them tonight. I guess the creative juices were just spilling over. More about that later...

*I realized after I blogged this that the image is a Photoshop file, not a JPEG, so it may not show, but no worries, tomorrow you will see the full image*

This is my "imitation" Baked Alaska that I wish I could eat each meal for ever and ever. (I guess this would be included under the "etc" part of this blog)

And this is a problem.

I don't know what I want to do with this problem yet. I've seen so many ideas about ribbon storage, but I haven't found anything yet that really excites me. I guess I better do something about this...and soon!

Hello

I think I should be fired from taking pics of my cards. Haha! OR I should just get some [more] photography lessons from my husband. (That's probably a better choice, huh?)

This card is using a new stamp set from the NEW occasions mini catalog from Stampin' Up! (Customer ordering starts on April 1st!) The set is called Forest Friends. I have SO many flower stamps, so I thought it was time for something different. I have noticed that owls and these little animals are quite popular right now, and I have to admit I think they are really cute! When I was on vacation I found some paper that resembles the main part of this card, so I was trying to imitate that look with this card. I also stamped a bunny inside the card.

I have been knitting a lot, so that's why I have been absent with posting.

It doesn't have to be perfect

“What you create doesn’t have to be perfect. So what if the eggs are greasy or the toast is burned? Don’t let fear of failure discourage you. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you – whether that voice comes from the outside or the inside.

If you still feel incapable of creating, start small. Try to see how many smiles you can create, write a letter of appreciation, learn a new skill, identify a space and beautify it.”

Knitting

I asked Quent to take some pictures of me knitting. My sister Amanda was asking me about the sweater I have been knitting, so I thought it would be fun to share some pictures so she can see the color and the progression of the sweater. This is my first adult-size sweater. I'm always up for a knitting challenge.

I'm not sure if I hold the needles the "correct" way, but whatever I am doing is working.

(Amanda, I wish I could knit with you! Miss you!)

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #1

Dawn McVey has some beautiful creations, so I was so excited to see that she's starting her own color challenge. Here is the card I created for the challenge. I think the colors look different in real life, so I guess I need to work on my photography skills some more.

And this is a little peek at what I have in store for my stamping club members for next month's workshop...unless I change my mind before then...which is always possible.

Violinist

This is a simple page...for me. Ha!

Sleddin'

This page is bright! I don't know if I'm totally done with this one yet. This page was inspired by this page.

Last night I tried to take a picture of the cats licking one another, but I wasn't fast enough. It's been SOOO nice!

Birthday Boy

It took me a little while to complete this page. I started it a couple of days ago and finally finished it today. This was an assignment for the Jessica Sprague class. I'm hoping to do more digital scrapbooking in the upcoming days.

Friends

A card I made today...it looks brighter in real life. Ha!

See this!!?? I am rejoicing! Today was the first day we let them have interaction since Saturday night and they are getting along great. Thank the Lord!! They even had dinner together tonight. Haha! I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. It was a tough week!

If only...

If only I could show Tigger and Shadow these scrapbook pages and remind them that they are, in fact, friends...then this whole ordeal would be quickly overwith. If it were only that simple, right?? I so wish!!

Here they are trying to escape the fleas. I never thought I would say this, but I would much rather have fleas than deal with what we are currently. I think Quent just about fainted when I told him that. Ha! I'm totally serious though.

Tigger and Shadow, look! (Talking to kitties) See, here you are being naughty together. Remember this?

And here they are playing in the box fort I made them. Good times!

Wouldn't it be nice?

Yes, I need therapy too. Haha!
