Project Life 2015: September

Hello!

Oops!  It's been awhile since I've blogged.  I haven't been in much of a scrapping mood.  I've been in nesting mode.  Selling stuff on eBay.  Selling things in our local sale cycle.  Getting rid of things.  Organizing.  And hopefully soon I will make a baby quilt and a quilt for Joshua's soon-to-be big boy bed.  Just saving some $$ and waiting.

And wow, it sure is nice to know I only have a month to catch-up with Project Life instead of weeks upon weeks.

Here is my super simple September Project Life spread:

Happy

Hello!

How is it that it's October?  Wow!  I'm still getting used to it being 2015.  In fact...today when I was writing in my journal, I almost put a '0-something date.  Like, were have I been?

This page took me 10 minutes.  Love that!  I just really wanted to be creative and I only had a short amount of time, and it all just came together.  Yay!  I guess that's what can happen when you work from one kit.

Anyway, here's a layout of Jeralyn.

Mermaid Ballerina

Hello!

I feel like I'm on a roll with scrapping.  But I may roll off...so don't get too excited.  Ha!  (Not that you were/are).

I wanted to use a princess kit I purchased months ago and I wanted to scrap these photos.  I like them together.

Joshua

Hello!  Well, I am on scrapbooking kick.  Yay!  I was inspired (again) by a page I had pinned on Pinterest.  The link it goes to doesn't really seem to show the page though?  Not sure why.  Anyway, trust me that this page was brought about by inspiration.

It's so fun to scrapbook Joshua.  Hello boy pages!

Sunshine

Hello!  It's Monday!  Did you have a fabulously creative weekend?  Knit?  Crochet?  Scrap?  Photograph?  I hope you did something fun!

I had fun "scraplifting" yet another page that I had pinned in Pinterest.  It's fun to see that I still liked the pages I pinned even though they were pinned a loooooooong time ago.  This idea came from here.

When I was creating this page, I remembered how I should *someday* organize my digital files.  I used to have them all organized in Adobe Bridge, but um...cough...not anymore.  And wow, I think I need to do some cleaning out because there are some digital kits I am SO over and done with.  It's funny though because at one point I thought they were cool and then I used them.  And those pages are awesome, but I really think I'm done with some of it.  But it's like digital stuff--that you can use over and over again--so should I get rid of it?  Would I regret it?  Now, normally, I do NOT hold onto things I no longer use.  I am not afraid of throwing things away or donating, but since it's a digital file on my computer, it's not like I see the space it takes up.  I'll have to think about this.  Hmmm...

Oh!  And I just love my adorable kids!

Joy

Hello!

Seriously, doing Project Life by the month is already making me feel more free to create regular pages.  Although, I've only done this one (below) so far since I've switched to months instead of weeks...but it definitely felt so good to sit down with intentions to scrapbook and know that I was caught up on Project Life (monthly) and could just create a regular page.  Whoop!

And I knew exactly what photos I wanted to start with.  Quent took these photos when they were hiking and I haven't been able to get these photos out of my head since I first laid eyes up on them.  I wanted to capture this on a page and capture her, in this moment because this is Jeralyn through and through.  She loves life--very much!  It reminds me of that scripture in John 10:10, which says that Christ came to give us life abundantly.  Well, she has been an example to me of what that means.  I have much to learn from this girl!

I don't have a plan to scrapbook regular pages in any type of order.  It will be what my heart desires.  If a photo speaks to me, it may be documented in a scrapbook page.  No pressure.  Just pure photo and life capturing.

Oh, and I also wanted to mention that when I sat down to scrap these photos, I looked up some ideas I've pinned in my Scrapbook Pages board on Pinterest.  And I found one that spoke to my heart by Sasha Farina.  It's interesting because I used to find a lot of scrapbook inspiration in the late Creating Keepsakes magazines, but now it's Pinterest.  Gotta love Pinterest!

Project Life 2015: July

Hello!

I've decided to keep up with the changes I made for Project Life.  I feel like I'm not completely where I want to be, but I like it much better than where it was.  It's a work in progress.  And really, our creativity and what we like changes over time.  I can say an "AMEN" to that when I look back at some of my first scrapbook pages.  Oh man!  But that's where I was then and this is where I am now.

So here is JULY:

Stay tuned for baby gender reveal----> tomorrow!

Knitted Blanket

Hello!

So I decided to switch things up a bit and post about a blanket I knitted.  I found this pattern in one of Knit Picks newsletters they send out each month.  The pattern is called Abrigado, which can be found here.  The yarn I used for this beautiful blanket is also by Knit Picks called Billow.  The color I used is called Sagebrush.  I don't like knitting with scratchy yarn.  This yarn is so soft and wonderful!  I LOVED working with it!

It was tricky catching the true color of this blanket in photos, but I think this first photo does a pretty good job:

And here's Jeralyn modeling the blanket for me.  Silly girl!

This blanket was a gift for a friend.  I think I'm going to have to make one for me one of these days...using the same yarn (and maybe even the same color), because seriously, the yarn is that amazing!  Plus, I have some skeins left over!

I haven't posted too many of my yarn projects.  Like you may not even know that I've finally learned how to crochet.  I'll have to post about that some time

Project Life 2015: June

Hello!

So...I've decided to really change things up with Project Life.  I finished May with Week 22, and um...now we are over halfway through September.  And I really don't want to play catch up with Project Life.  And quite honestly, there wasn't a lot of photos taken in June, July, and part of August because I wasn't feeling well because of morning sickness symptoms.  So I'm changing things up a bit and I've decided to do monthly pages and highlight on my favorite photos/events.

I've really missed creating regular scrapbook pages, so I am planning on doing those along with monthly Project Life pages. I really like the concept of Project Life, but I don't have the time to keep up with it on a weekly basis.  I always have good intentions, but reality is that I always get behind.  And...another baby (February 2016) also means another Baby Journal, so I will have plenty to keep up with in 2016.  So I'm hoping this will help me continue to capture life through scrapbooking, but without all of the added pressure.  It's just where I'm at right now with two young ones and one on the way.

Like I mentioned in my last post, I want to focus more on the photos.  I would like to add more words and have less digital elements.  I like this much better!

Project Life 2015: Week 22

Hello!

So I'm back today to show my "newer" version of Project Life.  I'm sort of going back to the same templates I used in 2013.  I like the stitching and rounded corner photos.  I have really been attracted to how Rebekah does her pages with more word brushes and words on the photos.  So I'm working toward that.

And I want to use less digital elements.  I want more photos and solid colored paper (I think).

But there are even more changes to be made...which I will talk about next time!

Project Life 2015: Weeks19-21

Hello!

Now that I'm caught up on Joshua's Baby Journal, I am back to focusing on Project Life.  And well, going back to those pages sort of made me not want to work on it.  I just wasn't liking the pages and so I am working on reformatting how I am doing those pages.  I'm not sure if I've found exactly what I'm thinking of, but it's at least a start.  I like the idea of the project...well, I'll talk more about this next time.

I *could* have redone these pages, but I'm not.  But here they are:

Inside look at Jeralyn's album

Hello!

Today I would like to take you on a little tour of Jeralyn's baby album.  I have it in a 12x12-inch D-ring We R Memory Keepers album (my favorite album to date).  It's her baby book.  I didn't want the traditional, fill-in-the blanks baby book.  It's a continuous work in progress and probably won't be complete until she's like 18 years old!  Ha!  Like for instance, I need to create a "milestones" sheet that I can write the dates in for (like her first tooth, first steps, etc.).

At age 4, she already enjoys looking through her album.  The last time we looked through it, she was really impressed with the princess stickers I kept from the doctor's office with her weight/height written on them.

Let's take a look:

This is the first page(s).  I kept the guest sheet from a baby shower because it really meant a lot to me (for a lot of reasons).

I have all sorts of things in the album.  On the left it's some stuff I kept from a surprise "mail" baby shower my friend Carrie put together for me.  On the right is the "birth certificate" that the hospital created.

There are those princess stickers. *wink*  The thank you card and birth announcement I designed.  The tape they measured her with.  These are in the Project Life kind of pages with the pockets.

And then there was some stuff I wanted to save, but there was nothing out there on the market (at the time) that would display these things, so I created my own pockets.

I include a little bit of something from her birthday parties (sometimes).  Ultrasound photo.  Her first swim class evaluation.  And a scripture I wrote out on a card as we tried/waited for Jeralyn for 7 years.  These are special things--all that have a story or purpose.

First hair cut locks that I saved.

I found a free printable to record her teeth.

I have a few of her first drawings.

Project Life has these cool 12x12 pocket folders that I have put her first hats, head band, and the first program from her first ballet performance.

And of course the weekly pages, all 52.

Newspaper clippings of when she's been famous.

Birthday scrapbook pages.

I have really enjoyed making and adding to her baby book/album.

So that's about it!  If it becomes too bulky I will probably have to take some things out or compile information.

Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Joshua's Baby Journal: Week 52

Hello!

So it was fun to add pink to this page thanks to Jeralyn putting her tutu over Joshua!  AND...it's SO fun to have this project completed!

It's been so fun to look back through these photos and to see how much my lil guy has grown and changed.  In a few days he will be 18 months!  How is that even possible?

Here's the last week:

Stay tuned for some photos and details of the kids' baby journal albums.

Also, it's time to back track and catch up on Project Life.  I am tossing around an idea to change some things on it...but I will save that for another post.
