Coloring Eggs

I've been working on editing my Michigan trip photos. When I took pictures of when we dyed Easter eggs, I knew a fun scrapbook page was in the works! I LOVE bright colors! Of course my siblings made it so much fun, too! It was creativity at work...all around! And I couldn't resist scrapping these photos NOW!

I worked on these set of pages for a long time. I was inspired by Ali Edwards' page. I'm pleased with the result!

P.S. The font is called Pee Pants Script...really! I colored underneath the font to give it a "colored" effect.

What I did today...

About a month ago and then again last week I had some digital pages printed through www.scrapbookpictures.com. I'm [still] impressed with the quality and price per page, but I'm not so impressed with their shipping rates for Alaska. But...it's still cheaper than how I used to have my pages printed. So today I had all the pages (which was right around 100) and I put them in order chronologically. There are a few pages I created last year with last year's pictures that are hybrid (traditional + digital scrapbooking), and I have to say that I loved the way they looked at it made me want to do more! There's only a few hybrid pages, like maybe 10...maybe. I've definitely become a digi-scrapper! With some of the digital pages, I looked at them and thought, "What was I thinking?" Ha! I will probably do that for the rest of my life. Styles come and go. Creativity changes. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (at least at that moment). It might not be as beautiful looking the next moment. Was that too cruel to say?

Tonight I was looking at a blog and I saw the blog post title had May 4, 2010. Honestly, my first thought was, "Wow! Why are they blogging so far ahead?" And then it hit me that May 4, 2010 has already come and gone! That was YESTERDAY! Is this year going by fast or what? I couldn't believe it!

Tonight I basically finished knitting the purse bag. I'm feeling a little frustrated because the pocket on the outside is giving me some difficulty. I tried on the slippers I made and one of them is too big so I should probably put that in the washer again. It's a little frustrating when things don't work out the way we want them to...but we cannot give up! I will not give up!

Back to photo editing...

May Desktop & Iphone Wallpaper

Just in case if you haven't looked over at Little Dreamer's blog to catch these FREEbies...{click here}. I signed up to make the desktop and iphone wallpaper for May. I don't have an iphone (I don't even have a regular ole cell phone), so it was interesting creating something for one. Anyway, please feel free to check Little Dreamer's blog to get these images FREE!

In my mind I wanted to create something bright and colorful, but what came out was something with neutral colors.

Sweater

Happy Sunday! What a week! I hope you all had a great week and are having a fun, relaxing weekend! I'm trying to be as lazy as possible today. *smile* I thought today would be the perfect day to show the picture of the sweater I knitted. It's a cowl neck sweater from an older issue of Creative Knitting. It's my first adult-size sweater. It's SUPER soft! I made it with Knit Picks yarn. My goal was to make an adult-size sweater that was simple. When I saw the picture of the sweater I knew it was the one, but it's largest size wasn't going to be big enough for me. My friend LaDonna suggested I just go one size up for the needles and that's just what I did. Funny thing is that I've lost weight/inches since knitting it, so it's a little loose on me. I'm ok with that though! The sweater has a few mistakes, but that makes it personal to me, right?

I'm just really enjoying knitting. I finished knitting some slippers that will be felted and I'm working on finishing up the purse bag I started a couple of months ago. And I'm looking for a pattern to make a baby hat and possibly booties for my friend Janae's little Owen who was born just a few days ago.

Beanie

I posted pictures of the beanie I knitted a little while back. I also scrapped about it:

{credits}

I created this page for a "white space" challenge at Little Dreamer. Either they never did the challenge or I'm not seeing it on the blog (or both). I'm not even sure if I understand what a white space is when it comes to scrapbooking, but this is what I created. Ha!

When I knitted the beanie (which I considered a hat then) I had intentions of giving it to my mom for her birthday in February. When it was completed and I tried it on (without even looking in the mirror nonetheless) I busted out with a laugh because it was so small. I brought it with me to Michigan and several kids, friends, family tried it on. It was up for grabs for any one of them, but no one kept it. I showed it to my mom, she tried it on, and lo and behold, she liked it and said she wanted it. Hilarious!

Quent took pictures of me wearing the sweater I knitted. I'll post that soon!

Ice Cream Fun

A page dedicated to one of my favorite foods! My maiden name is Keller, which I think should mean: Lover of ice cream!

I love the bright colors on this page! I wanted something fun and colorful for these pictures.

Red Rock Canyon

Happy Wednesday! Today I was in a scrapping mood, so I scrapped a few pages. And I did cave in and scrap a few of the pics I took when I was in Michigan...oops! I just couldn't help myself! But I am sticking to the plan of scrapping our trip photos. I am thinking I should upload the pages I have completed to Shutterfly to make sure the double-spread pages fit in the right order with the single pages. Otherwise I'll have to sneak in a few more single pages. I've really enjoyed scrapping these trip photos because of the simplicity. I have a feeling I will be more "complex" and "crazy" with the pics I took when I was in MI. It's fun to be creative like that. I do have a lot of pages scrapped of our trip from last year, but I can't really share them yet...

Here's what I scrapped today:

Hello Waterton

After being home for almost 2 days, I thought I would take a stab at scrapbooking since I was in the mood. Last night Quent ran me through the details on how to edit my photos using camera raw. I got the first "batch" done, but now I need more of his help. It really is cool editing photos using camera raw. The pictures just have this awesome crispness and vibrance to them this way. I am excited! I really want to start scrapbooking the photos from Michigan, but I'm making myself complete another project first...our 2009 Montana vacation album! I will probably cheat and scrap some of the MI photos anyway. Hee, hee!

I enjoyed scrapping this page today. Being the introvert that I am, I needed some time just to myself today. After visiting in MI, I find myself needing to recharge. So I edited photos, scrapped, and looked through the current Creating Keepsakes magazine.

Happy Tuesday!

Headband

Hello! I'm back from my trip to Michigan. I had a wonderful time visiting family and friends. It was really hard to say goodbye. I hope to visit again before another year goes by. I took almost 1,000 pictures!! Digital scrappin' here I come!! I have a lot of photo editing in my future since most of the pictures were taken in camera raw. And maybe I will personally post something about photo editing when it's all said and done (instead of Quent). Quent took a trip himself while I was away and he took some awesome photos! I'm so amazed at his talent!
Before I left for my trip I searched at ravelry.com to find a headband pattern for my sister Amanda and I to knit while I was visiting MI. I wanted to teach her some new techniques. I found this pattern for a basketweave headband. We made the handbands together and they turned out super cute. It was really simple and didn't take us very long. We had fun knitting together and one day we walked down to the yarn shop and drooled over the yarn. While I was there I started a new project of knitting felted slippers. Amanda started knitting a shawl.

Here is my sister Katie modeling the headband I knitted:

Isn't she so cute?

I hope you are having a great April!

You Are My Sunshine

Here is one more layout I wanted to share before I leave. This was one I created with a new kit from Little Dreamer, for the creative team. I love the yellow and gray colors in this kit! Perfect for my gray striped kitty with yellow eyes!

Have a Happy Easter! I will see you in a few weeks!

Bonnet and Baby

I wanted to create some layouts for the creative teams I am before I leave for Michigan. This kit by Michelle Underwood came out today.

I combined the new kit with a kit from last year called Hippity Hop Hop! It was a fun page to create with Easter just around the corner!

I used only the new kit for this page. I originally had another picture in mind for this page, but when I was looking through my childhood photos I thought this one would be perfect. I wanted this page to reflect the design of the baby seat I am sitting in (yes, that's me!). I love the "quilted" look of this page.

Happy early Easter!

Worry

I guess I just felt inspired this morning by some things that have been on my mind. And then I found a picture that I wanted to scrap that sorta reflects my thoughts. And then it all just came together so quickly! I love when that happens!

P.S. I have been scrapping...but I cannot really share any of the pages with you...yet! *wink*

Being true

I HIGHly recommend reading this post from Ali Edwards' blog today. She featured May Flaum. What she has to say about staying true to one's self is awesome!
Be you! Stay true to your style!

White Water Rafting

I have to say this was a page-spread that I found myself really enjoying creating. It was a bit of a challenge because I wanted to fit as many photos as I could. I am pleased with all I was able to cram in! It sorta reminds me of a brochure.

I was asked by Ingunn if I could share a post about photo editing. I would love to! But it would probably be Quent sharing about it since he is the main photo editor. He sounded interested in sharing some tips, but it might be a little while before we get to that point. His pictures are so impressive! I'm really proud of him!

And for Nettie's question: her grandmother is coming for two weeks to spend time with the sweet little one. She is just all cuteness...except when she has "separation anxiety". Haha!

A Cat and a Hat

In January (or was it February?) I knitted a hat. It was supposed to be a gift for an adult, but when I tried it on and realized how small it was, I busted out with a laugh. I think it's supposed to be more like a beanie, which I suppose an adult could wear. I personally like knitted hats that go over my ears, but beanies are cute, too. This hat had something unique to it because I had to knit a patch. It was pretty simple.

I finally sewed up the seams on my sweater I started last year! I was checking everything out before I headed to the local yarn shop to get some help with my sweater. I had it laying on the floor and what do you know, Mr. Tig had to come over and check it out. I had a sneaky suspicion that he would enjoy laying on it, and that's exactly what he did. It's super soft, so I can't blame him. He's hilarious!

Right now I'm working on knitting a handbag/purse for myself. I'm hoping to finish it before I leave for Michigan next week so I can get help from my sister and step-mom Kelly with how to line it with fabric.

Chronicles of Adventure

Here are a few digital scrapbook pages of the project I have been working on for one of my husband's trips.

I really wanted to add to this page, but when I would, it just didn't fit. So I decided that the simplicity of it is completely fine!

Pictures of sunsets, waterfalls, rainbows, or other such beautiful sights aren't my favorite to scrapbook. So I'm learning to keep the pages with these pictures as simple as possible. There were a lot of drafts for this page, but this is the one that I felt really accomplished what I wanted to portray. Quent takes so many amazing photos and I want this photobook to really bring out the artistic talent he has captured in his photos and the editing process. He really enjoyed this trip and was bummed when weather conditions didn't allow them to go again this year. So I really want this photobook to be special for him.

Dream a little

Hello! I hope you are having a great weekend! I thought I would share a page I just finished this morning with you. I've been most creative in the morning the last few days. It's been fun! I'm super close to being finished with scrapping the general pics of 2009. I'm excited about that. I've been having all the pages printed at scrapbookpictures.com. I have a nice pile that I need to put in page protectors. I'm not sure if I will have them individually printed this year or in a photobook like Shutterfly. I guess I have a whole year (or less now that it's almost April) to decide.

Have a great rest of your weekend and stay true to your style!

Are you?

Are you a people-pleaser? Do you care too much about what others think about you? Do you notice that you do things or don't do things out of fear of what others may think of you? Do you allow the fear of people control you? Do you allow someone elses fears control you? Did you know that you don't have to be a people-pleaser?

What is a people-pleaser? "It is those who try to please people even if they have to compromise their conscience to do so. People-pleasers are those who need approval so desperately that they allow themselves to be controlled, manipulated, and used by others."

I recently read this in Joyce Meyer's Approval Addiction:

Do you feel bad when you don't please people? Many years ago I began to realize that the reason I tried so hard to please people was to benefit me rather than them. If I could please them, then I felt good. I don't think I really cared all that much about how they felt, it was me I was concerned about. Did it ever occur to you that people-pleasing can very well be a manifestation of selfishness rather than sacrifice?

People-pleasers feel awful when their decisions do not please others. They assume responsibility for other people's emotional reactions. In my former life, if I thought someone was angry, unhappy, or disappointed, it made me feel uncomfortable. I could not feel comfortable again until I thought I had done whatever needed to be done to make that person happy again.

I did not realize that as long as I was following God's will for my life, other people's responses were not my responsibility. It may not always be possible to do what other people want, but a spiritually mature person learns to deal with disappointment and keep a good attitude. If you are doing what you believe God has told you to do and others are not pleased with you, it is not your fault; it is theirs.

I told myself that I did not want other people to be hurt, confused, or upset. In reality I did not want anyone to be angry with me. I did not want anyone to think badly of me. It was really all about me.

If you are not able to give people what they want, and they become unhappy, it is not your fault. Beware of developing a false sense of responsibility.

I have been a people-pleaser for most of my life. It's really been in the last few years that I have realized that I cannot live my life like that anymore. Sometimes I am afraid at times that I will lose a friendship or a relationship if I'm not doing something someone thinks I should do. "But those who are truly your friends will give you the freedom to make you own decisions. They will respect the decisions you make. They will not pressure you or try to make you feel guilty for not pleasing them. Your true friends are not those who are merely using you for their own benefit or those who always become angry when you don't do what they want you to do."

I share all of this because this is a HUGE thing that so many deal with. I have come across SO many people who are people-pleasers. And I share all of it because I know (based from what I have seen in my own life) that if you worry too much about what other people think of you that you can allow that to destroy dreams and it can effect creativity. It can make you want to wear masks and not be who you really are. And that's not being true to your style...to who you are! We can only BE who we are! It doesn't matter what others think of us. Their opinion doesn't define us. Did you know that statistically 2% of the population won't like us? Focus on the 98% of people who like you for YOU!

Whoohoo!

Bugger Time

Hello! I know, I've been missing! I have been reevaluating how I spend my time these days. It's been GREAT! I have been working on some design projects and I have been scrapping, but I haven't really been working on anything I can share here right now. I'm also working part-time watching my friend's 3-month old baby, so I've been busy with that. I've really enjoyed not being obsessed with the computer. I feel so FREE!

Anyway, enough with that. I'm here to inspire. Little Dreamer has some awesome new templates from Christine! There's a "Q"! I'm so excited about that! I am going to have to make a page for my Q-man! I made this page using some of the fun elements from a new kit that just came out last night.

I *Heart* Spring!

Michelle Underwood just came out with NEW kit today called I Heart Spring! It's such a cute kit with these cute little trees! And I love the clouds! And the bright colors...love those too! I had so much fun creating these layouts! And it's been so fun to create layouts using my childhood pictures!
